Basheer truly is inspiring whether we’re in the “boxing world” or not and it’s recognized by anyone he talked to this weekend, particularly the trainers and staff who were so engaged when he’d speak. He has a natural talent for capturing his audience and creating a drive within his listeners. During his coaching session where he shared key points of being a successful trainer, based on his own experiences, our trainers didn’t take their eyes off of him. They were fully engaged and listened intently to one of the best coaches in America. Julian and Diego admitted to being extremely motivated and pumped after his talk in the ring the first night. Each trainer continues to incorporate Basheer’s advice and training tips into their own training routine on daily basis. The experience our trainers had with Basheer was invaluable and will not be forgotten. He is truly an inspiration to those he coaches.

In over 40 years of covering sports I have never been around someone more dedicated, professional and driven to succeed as Basheer “Coach” Abdullah. I only wish I had a son who was interested in boxing because I know the perfect coach!!!

Coach Abdullah is a great coach, a very technical coach who believes that boxing is a real science. He is a coach who is not afraid to tweak his coaching methods to adjust with the way boxing evolves as times changes in the boxing world. Besides just being a coach he is a great mentor.
Very technical and methodical approach to training, Basheer is one of the most knowledgeable coaches that I know. He is many positive things to many people but the trait that I value most is the fact that he is always very accommodating. As a grassroots coach, whenever I called him, he made himself available to me, in most cases (if not all) he was my only link to the national program. There was and (still) is no provision within USA Boxing to receive such insight and training updates at the national and international level. He has always been humble and giving as it relates to my program and the kids. Each of my kids know him by name and we follow his career and boxing endeavors like a super hero. Coach Abdullah is a man who can bring fighters from all demographics and differing backgrounds together to become a single fighting unit. He taught us that regardless of who we are, where we came from and what color our skin is, we all have it in us to become a true champion.
